“Abyss Desires“ is Rico’s and Falo’s first album under the name of Avoid-A-Void although they already have played in various other bands (e.g. Silver & Gallery of Fear) for years before forming Avoid-A-Void.
The appeal of “Abyss Desires“ lies in its sophisticated electronic arrangements that skilfully combine retro-sounds EBM, mid-tempo beats and atmospheric sounds. The music,
Falo’s singing and the profound and ironic lyrics form this special symbiotic relationship.
You can compare Avoid-A-Void to Depeche Mode, Camouflage and De/Vision but they are more than just another copy pf these bands-they are very original. You can notice that their songs are very easy-going and that they do not have to follow any current trend. There are songs like “ Deja Vu“ that can easily fill a dancefloor, beautifully melancholiic electro-pop songs like “Ignorant“ or “ If We Were One“. These songs all fit together well and they show that Avoid-A-Void’s “Abyss Desires“ is a perfect record.
