THE CRYSTALLINE EFFECT is the female-fronted icy electro counterfoil to Australian composer Pete Crane’s brooding dark electro project SHIV-R. “Industrial Re-Evolution” is the first new material from THE CRYSTALLINE EFFECT since the 2008 album “Identity”, and is an extended EP of 14 tracks – 7 new and 7 remixes from SOMAN, FRACTURED, DYM, STUDIO-X, THE SYNTHETIC DREAM FOUNDATION, CELLMOD and DAVE FOREMAN.
"Industrial Re-Evolution", is so named partly because the work itself has been "evolving" over the past couple of years (both in terms of format and content), and partly because the digital single "Ada Makes The Machines Sing" (DWD144) is about Ada Lovelace - generally recognised as the world's earliest computer programmer, and a key character in Willam Gibson/Bruce Sterling's "steampunk" novel "The Difference Engine" which re-imagines the world as it might be had the Industrial Revolution taken a different course.
