“And now you’re here, you’ve arrived… go catch your dreams, dust child!” These words narrated by a sonorous male voice in the intro of the new album fit hand in glove, as the third long player from German Alternative Rockers Staubkind really feels like finally arriving at a destination after a long journey. The songs are wonderfully consistent, are immediately catchy and bring out the entire bandwidth of emotions in the group’s music in a perfectly balanced interplay of massive walls of sound with fragile intimacy. Featuring a massive production from Unheilig-producer Henning Verlage, Staubkind’s newest outing effectively mingles sensitive moments (like in the hit singles “So nah bei mir” and “Kannst du mich sehn’”) with driving Alternative-Rock-attacks and a moving finale that slowly evolves into an orchestral climax. All the while, “Staubkind” keeps music and lyrics unpretentious, direct and honest: cinematic moments, intimate emotions and the feeling of an unbridled summer storm.
