If you love the 80s, and New Wave and Post-Punk are not foreign to you, then you absolutely must listen to this album. ‘Black Light District’ is a dark, mystical world full of intrigue, sex, and loneliness, but also a space where you can find love, friendship, and redemption.
You enter this world with EMILY, a cover of the well known track by CLAN OF XYMOX. After the ethereal intro, it seems as if everything is simple, almost harmonious, but of course, it's just an illusion. The opener is followed by the first single DANCING ON THE BATTLEFIELD, musically pure 80s Post-Punk, but lyrically a very current debate between EMILY and a fossil fuel manager who exacerbates climate change instead of stopping it.
EMILY KINSKI’S DEAD is a German/Swiss project, born out of a fondness for post-punk and new wave from the early 80s, combined with contemporary electronics. The band was founded 2021 by Oliver Spring, René Ebner & Thomas Kowa. All 3 musicians are well known in the Electro scene as members of bands such as NO COMMENT (Subway/Subtronic, Vision Records, Nanopop, Echozone...) and SLEEPWALK (Celtic Circle/Khazad-Dum, Scanner...), and as NINE SECONDS they released 4 more ‘EBM/Industrial‘-styled albums on Infacted Recordings and Space Race.
