STRANGER STATION was Simon Driscoll (music, words, vocals) with some support from Judith Golberg and David Holecombe on studio and live synthesisers, all from the UK. With their debut 7” single “Minutes to silence”/“Strangers” (Superwop ST 01) STRANGER STATION released a masterpiece of the minimal electronics genre in 1981. Apart from that they only appeared with “Welcome to the Night” on the ultra-rare compilation LP “Synthetic Romance” in 1982. Both vinyls have absolute cult status among collectors worldwide and regularly fetch three- to even four-digit-amounts.

In 2009, Anna Logue Records then released a full-time STRANGER STATION album entitled Echoes in Infinity” (ANNA 022.2009) including the majority of the remaining early 80’s material. This album, btw, will see a CD re-issue soon including two further previously unreleased tracks.

Anyway, Simon also found three recordings from the 80’s that featured three different singers: the female vocalist Audrey with lovely voice tells us about oh “Cynthia” “so sad, so lost and all alone…she earches the mirror she hopes for a clue, only to find it has taken her glow” only with minimal and beautiful electronic accompanied by Simon. “Casey” flows in with male vocalist Pip introducing “Casey” only with sparse synthesiser and organ-like accompaniment. The b-side features female vocalist Corinne taking us almost on a medieval trip on her „Magic Carpet“. All those songs are very melancholic, very well played, very unique and very beautiful. Something very special.
