Nürnberg - Singles (CD)

The Belarusian band NÜRNBERG has released five successful and musically more than just solid Postpunk/Darkwave albums since 2018. They fit perfectly into the ongoing trend of music that is orientated on the Wave-sound of the 80s and also the Darkwave of the 90s, but does not ignore some modern influences. There are also (Wave-) Pop and electronic echoes from time to time, creating a mixture that appeals to a broad audience that doesn't just come from the „Dark Scene“.

With „Singles“, Y&C is now presenting a compilation of all ‘digitally only’ released songs from 2019 to 2023, which are now available on vinyl for the first time. „Mora“ is the earliest song that clearly shows that NÜRNBERG also like The Cure. The guitar sounds light, like a song that could have been written between „Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me!!!“ and „Disintegration“. „Kachannie“ is almost poppy and delights with a very catchy melody. More sombre (and produced by the Molchat Doma musicians) is the dark-sounding „Kaniec“, but this is immediately replaced by the fresh „Znajomstva“, which is a little reminiscent of Sad Lovers And Giants.

On the B-side of the LP there are some acoustic versions of the songs, which present them reduced to their basic structure and emphasise the good songwriting. NÜRNBERG don't want to reinvent the Postpunk/Darkwave sound, and that's hardly possible anyway. The band plays the music they like to listen to themselves. However, the Russian vocals create a special atmosphere that is characterised by the melancholy mood of this language and sets NÜRNBERG apart from the masses of current bands.
